Messeforum removes emission allowances from the European Union Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) through the CO2Esto mechanism. This permanently eliminates the corresponding emissions rights from the emissions trading market, leaving fewer allowances available within the system.

As a result, major European emitters such as industrial facilities and airlines, which depend on emissions allowances in order to continue operating, are encouraged to develop and adopt lower-emission operating methods.

This contributes to an overall reduction in emissions throughout Europe.

Reliable carbon neutrality begins with carbon footprint calculations based on trustworthy emission factors. Messeforum calculates the carbon footprint of every exhibition stand it delivers using up-to-date emission factors from the OpenCO2net emissions database in accordance with ISO 14067, the international standard for carbon footprint calculation.

Messeforum’s carbon neutral stand complies with the requirements of ISO 14068, the international standard defining carbon neutrality. We update our carbon footprint management plan annually and report on our emission reduction measures in accordance with the requirements of the standard.
