Novatron Oy is a Finnish technology company that manufactures machine control systems, software and components, mainly for the civil engineering industry. Novatron’s service portfolio also includes consulting and product development services. The company is active in several locations and has its headquarters in Pirkkala.
Novatron is a market leader in the use of 3D technology in civil engineering. The technology is widely used, particularly in Finland and other Nordic countries, where it is already often required by contractors on behalf of their clients. The rest of the world, on the other hand, is only just waking up to the potential of machine control and information model-based infrastructure construction. Novatron is therefore helping to create ISO standards for a sector where the potential for digitalisation is still being recognised more widely. Internationally, the readiness to adopt 3D technology in civil engineering is evolving, and Novatron wants to strengthen its foothold in the market through a quality trade fair presence.
Novatron’s first stand at the international trade fair was also carbon neutral
Head of Marketing Johanna Valkama says that when Novatron decided to participate in the triennial Bauma trade fair in Munich, Germany, they wanted the stand to be impressive and look like Novatron itself. In the past, Novatron has participated in international trade fairs as part of its dealers’ exhibition package, but now the company wanted to participate with its own brand.
“We have been doing some branding work recently and we want to become more international. We chose Messeforum because we wanted a domestic trade fair partner with solid experience of foreign trade fairs,” says Valkama.
“It is also important to us that the furniture in our stand is not disposable. The fact that the stand is carbon-neutral was also a convincing factor in our choice of trade fair partner. And I think it’s great that we can do it without any additional costs,” says Valkama.
A two-storey stand requires strength calculations and expertise
The cooperation between Novatron and Messeforum went smoothly. Communication with the domestic exhibition stand builder was easy. Novatron had a clear idea of what they wanted from the fair and Messeforum was able to support them:
“We also wanted to schedule a product launch at Bauma. To this end, Messeforum’s carpenter built a demo table for Novatron. It was designed so that it could be used in our Pirkkala office as well,” says Valkama.

They also wanted the stand to be a quiet space that would allow for conversations between vendors and customers. The stand was therefore built on two floors.
“When you want to build a two-storey stand for a trade fair, you need, among other things, a structural strength calculation. In addition, other regulations must be complied with, which are very strict in German trade fair organisations,” explains Sari Kuusisto, Sales Director responsible for Novatron’s account at Messeforum.
“Messeforum has a long experience as a trade fair stand builder, which ensures that our experts have a solid knowledge of the guidelines and regulations of the various trade fair organisers. When the customer, like Novatron, leaves the exhibition construction to Messeforum, all the necessary regulations and details are also taken care of without the customer having to stress about them himself,” promises Kuusisto.
The exhibition stand communicates the company’s brand image
The construction phase of a trade fair is always full of variables and excitement. Novatron’s Bauma experience was spiced up by the time pressures of product launch. At the fair, we were surprised by how congested the hallways are during the construction phase – but thanks to good planning, the congestion was not a problem.
“From our point of view, the fair went very well. I think the stand was a modern, cutting-edge example of our pioneering spirit and was up and running on time, as it should have been. The fact that Messeforum staff were present at the fair to make sure that everything was in order also created a sense of security,” says Valkama.
